PdfCraft is a free, open-source PDF workbench for people who want powerful document tools without subscriptions, cloud dependence, or unnecessary data collection.
Written in Rust, it runs as a native application on Windows, macOS, Linux, and FreeBSD, while its WebAssembly version works directly in modern browsers.
Features include reading, searching, commenting, highlighting, filling forms, adding basic digital signatures, organizing pages, combining files, splitting documents, opening password-protected PDFs, and redacting sensitive information. Users can rotate, delete, insert, and reorder pages, with undo support for editing actions.
Privacy is central: PdfCraft requires no account, uses no telemetry, and keeps files on the user’s device. Browser-based tools process documents locally, so files are not uploaded. The software also supports encrypted PDFs and multiple writing systems, including right-to-left scripts, vertical Japanese, CJK text, and colour emoji.
PdfCraft is alpha software, so some advanced features remain under development.
