Sora 2 is OpenAI’s latest generation video and audio synthesis model, designed to deliver greater realism, physical coherence, and controllability than prior systems. It supports synchronized dialogue, sound effects, and rich ambient soundscapes—all integrated into the generated video output.
Unlike earlier models that often distort physical interactions (e.g. objects teleporting or gravity being ignored), Sora 2 incorporates a more accurate internal world simulation. For example, if a basketball player misses a shot, the ball rebounds off the backboard instead of magically landing in the hoop.
One standout feature is cameos: users can record a short video + audio clip of themselves, and later embed their likeness and voice into new scenes generated by Sora 2.
Sora 2 is deployed via a dedicated iOS app (called “Sora”) where users can create, remix, and browse AI-generated videos in a social feed interface. Access to Sora 2 is initially by invite, starting in the U.S. and Canada, with wider rollout planned.
While Sora 2 is not perfect and still produces occasional errors, it marks a significant step toward more believable AI video generation—blending creativity and physical consistency
